VOLUNTEERINGSpecial thanks to all 2006 Volunteers.

AYSO operates on a volunteer basis.  Below the national level, there are NO paid positions -- all board members, coaches, referees and support staff are volunteers, approximately 250,000 nation-wide.  Thus we are very dependent for YOUR help in running OUR region.  Without volunteers, Region 290 would not exist.

The following is a list of available positions.  No previous experience is necessary, only your desire to make this an enjoyable experience for your children.  If you are interested, contact any board member.  We need your help, without it, this region will not exist so PLEASE VOLUNTEER!

COACH.  Responsible for the team.  Organizes and conducts practices.  No experience necessary, training will be provided.

ASSISTANT COACH.  Assist the coach during practices and games.

TEAM PARENT.  Provides communication between the team’s coaching staff and the children’s parents.  Responsibilities usually include coordinating after-game snacks, fund raisers, picture day, team parties, etc.

REFEREE.  No experience necessary!  Training will be provided. If you cannot volunteer to be a referee, please understand that we are woefully short of referees in this region. Over 50% of all new referees quit after their 1st year because of abuse by the parents.  Be nice to our referees!

ASSISTANT REFEREE.  Assists the referee.  Indicates when the ball is out of play and which side is entitled to the ball.  No experience is necessary!  Training will be provided.

SNACK BAR.  The snack bar is an on-going fundraiser.  It is operated every Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 PM.  Volunteers are needed to help staff the snack bar every week.

FIELD HELP.  Assist in setting up the fields before the first scheduled game or taking down equipment at the end of the day. Assist with field clean up during the day or help maintain the restrooms.

FIELD MAINTENANCE. Take down/put up temporary fencing, spray weeds, find and replace broken sprinklers, reseed worn patches—these are just a few of the tasks that are performed year-round.

TOURNAMENT HELP.  The Bayside Invitational Tournament requires many volunteers to be successful from field coordinators to running the snack bar.

BOARD MEMBER.  Have a say in how your region is run!
